I tried uninstalling .net and MSE and in each case it said there was another installation running, I'm presuming one of these updates are hung based on the fact that on shutdown during install they NEVER install and NEVER complete the shutdown, one time I left it "shutting down" for 12 hours.  The machine came with Win7 as the OS so the system meets all the requirements.

I am out of ideas other than trying to figure out how to force shutdown ALL installation processes and start from scratch.

    Thanks

  • Attempted to install update one and got:
    3 results for "WindowsUpdate_8004FF00" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"
    1. 1 Troubleshoot problems with installing updates
    2. 2 Windows Update error 800B0100
    3.

3 Open the Windows Update troubleshooter

#3 Running the troubleshooter has no effect even though it says it fixes the problem.
    #2 Downloaded:

System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [August 2011]

and it had no solutions either...

  • Hi,

Did you get any error when you run the system update readiness tool?

Try reset the Windows update components: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

Open an elevated prompt, input the command: sfc /scannow to check the system file.

Manually download the update, then reinstall to check if it works.

    Miya

  • The only error I'm getting is that when i try to install programs I get "another installation in progress" stop message and I can't proceed with new installations of anything.  including the KB link you provided.

Is there a Win 7 version of that KB article as it indicates it does not apply to my Win 7 system.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Bret,

Clean Boot your computer, temporarily disable the firewall/antivirus application, then try to install the update.
