PCNS with Windows Server 2008 DC:s RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to install the Password Change Notification Services (PCNS) on domain controllers (x86 + x64) running Windows Server 2008 RTM in Windows Server 2008 Domain/Forest Functional Mode? Does implementing the new Fine-Grained Password Policy present an issue for MIIS/PCNS?

  • I have successfully installed PCNS on a DC running Server 2008 Core x64.  I have not thoroughly tested it though.  Nor have I been ale to test it with 2008 Domain/Forest level, or with FGPP in place.  I don't believe either of those would impact PCNS's functionality however.

To add to Michael's point, we finished our testing on it and it passed all tests.

Thank you, that is my belief as well.  I have enough to go on to continue with some tests of my own.

  • Has anyone completed any additional testing running PCNS on Server 2008?  I am looking for additional confirmation that this is indeed possible.  Although it sounds as though it is unsupported.

    Thanks!

  • Does this mean that password synchronisation via ILM 2007 and PCNS is fully supported by Microsoft on Windows Server 2008 and a domain at 2008 domain functional level?
