Project Server 2013 show existing assignments in time sheet RRS feed

  • Question

  • How can be shown all existing task assignments in the timesheets automaticly for all users? Now every one, for every time period, has to add a Row an select the assigned task.

  • Hi Cobi --

There is a configuration setting that controls the auto-population of project tasks into people's timesheets. To automatically populate people's current project tasks into their timesheets, you will need to log into Project Server 2013 with administrative privileges and do the following:

    • Navigate to PWA and visit the 'Server Settings' page.
    • On the 'Server Settings' page, click the 'Timesheet Settings and Defaults' link below the 'Time and Task Management' heading.
    • On the 'Timesheet Settings and Defaults' page, find the 'Default Timesheet Creation Mode' section, select the 'Current task assignments' option, and click the 'Save' button.

    Good luck!

    Hello Tony,

Yes, you are right in what you suggested as a solution for this, but more over, I have another situation, that is although I had the "Default Timesheet Creation Mode" set to "Current task assignments", but still the Timesheet populates with all task assignments.

Is there another option of settings is missing? or what is wrong here?

does the options in the "Timesheet Grid Column Settings", and "Default Reporting Unit" has anything to do with this?

    Thanks in advance

    Hany Zayed

  • Hi,

Tony's reply should be enough. Note that if assignments are created once timesheet is created, they won't be automatically added, user will have to manually add them to the existing timesheet.

    Hope this helps,

  • Cobi --

You have received two excellent replies from two very sharp users about how to populate the Timesheet page with task assignments.  However, you need to keep in mind that the Timesheet page for any user will NEVER show EVERY task to which the user is assigned.  The Timesheet page will only show tasks in which there is work assigned to the user during that current week.  If you want your users to be able to see EVERY task to which they are assigned, you need to send them to the Tasks page in PWA instead.  The Tasks page shows everything.  Just an additional thought.  Hope this helps.
