  • Question

  • We are running Office professional 2016 x64 (msi installation) on Windows Pro 10 v1809 17763.1339.  After installing July 14th 2020 security and non-security patches - we are seeing Outlook crash when clients send a message.  Also Word, Excel crashes have increased.  Anyone else having this issue?

  • We did not apply the update KB4559003 yet as we will wait for the August MS Security updates.  We are looking at a 3rd party agent running on on computers that may be causing the crashes

Besides, if the issue still continues, as a workaround, it is suggested to revert your Office to the prior working version.

  • No - the known issues talks about Outlook, Word, excel crashing at launch.  Outlook starts fine and will crash intermittently when sending a message.  The message is not sent, is not is Drafts folder - it is completely lost and has to be retyped.  Excel and Word launch without crashing but crash while being worked in.  It is not an option to revert to a prior version of Office.  We are running Office Professional 2016 x64 (msi installation). we do not want to go to Office 2013.  Also don't want to uninstall security updates if at all possible - but will if that is your suggestion. We applied these security updates - are there known issues with them?

  • Hi Karen,

I have a test machine installed with the same version of Office (16.0.5017.1000) but running on Windows 10 Version 1903. Currently no crash issues have been observed when using Office applications on my end.

According to the link you shared above, a new update for Windows 10 Version 1809(July 21, 2020—KB4559003) has been released, you could try testing on one machine by checking for and installing all available updates to see if there would be any improvement.
