Folders disappear when management pack is sealed RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am in the process of creating a library management pack which will be referenced by a number of other custom packs. Currently it has just a class definition and a single folder located in the root of the tree.

If I leave the pack unsealed and import it the folder displays as expected. If I seal the pack and import it the folder does not display.

I've checked show/hide just in case it's decided to be hidden by default but it's not there.

Any ideas what's going on here?

    This is SCOM 2012 R2 UR12.

  • Problem solved. Turns out folders in a sealed management pack aren't visible unless there's something (a view) in them. So they behave differently to folders in an unsealed pack.

I guess this must be intentional but it really just seems to be something that would cater to bad management pack design, as in defining a bunch of folders that aren't used but leaving them in the pack and having the app automatically hide them.
