Outlook 2013 & OWA not retrieving / sending to Exchange 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

Have a strange problem with Outlook 2013 - this is connecting to Exchange 2013 on an internal network. My client machine is a Surface Pro 2 running Outlook 2013, with our internal wifi. Everything connects fine to the domain and our proxy servers etc.. but for some reason at times Outlook is unable to retrieve emails even though it shows as Connected to Microsoft Exchange.

We use a http connection for Exchange and this goes through our OWA site, which oddly has a similar problem at the same time. I can login to OWA and browse emails but when I go to send a mail in OWA it shows an error saying its not connected to the internet.

So the question is why would I be able to connect to Exchange and browse email, yet not be able to sync and retrieve mail in Outlook 2013 or send email in OWA?

In the connection status viewer all the http connects for outlook seem to be running fine with HTTP connected but does anyone know a way to test the connectivity through to exchange for sending / retrieving email and why would this also affect OWA

Going crazy with this one so appreciate any help

Note orginally posted in the Office community and recommened to ask here instead :)

  • hey alex which version of exchange you are running. i would suggest if you are on lower CU then you update to CU6 which is latest and at last can you please advise if this is only happening with one computer or there are other users also facing issue.

and at last can you verify you firwall or internet for RTOs.

this happened to me couple of times one was isue with older CU of exchange and once intermittent internet connection for https based websites is not good.
