defragmentation event id is not showing RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have exchange 2003 sp2. Last week onwards, when we check on event viewer, defragmentation id 1221 for our database is not showing. How we can confirm that defragmentation is going on??

The defragmentation event ids are in the 7xx range and have an event
    source of "ese".

Check the property page of the database and verify that the
"Maintenance interval" on the "Database" tab isn't set to run at the
    same time as your backup.

The 1221 event just tels you the amount of free space in the database.
However, if the on-line maintenance isn't running you won't see that
event. Check to see if the System Attendant service is running, too.
