  • Hello!

I don't believe there exists a list of supported products/software for ADFS 2016, as there can be so many.

You can find the "Application Requirements" from the Microsoft official documentation, if the application supports these requirements then I suppose you should be able to use it with ADFS.

    ADFS Application requirements
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/identity/ad-fs/design/ad-fs-requirements#BKMK_9
(This is for Windows Server 2012 R2)

The documentation for ADFS 2016 (Windows Server 2016) doesn't have the "Application requirements" section documented yet, but at least it gives you some kind of idea of the requirements.

    Best regards,
    Leon

  • Compatible with what though?

From a protocol perspective, ADFS 2016 has the implementation of: WS-Federation, WS-Trust, SAML2, Oauth2 and OIDC. If your application is compatible with any of these protocols, then you can make it work.

From a MFA provider perspective, there is a list: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/identity/ad-fs/operations/configure-additional-authentication-methods-for-ad-fs

    Hi Pierre,

I am specifically looking for if ADFS 2016 can work with OWA and Sharepoint 2010.

  • For OWA, there is a documentation here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/using-ad-fs-claims-based-authentication-with-outlook-web-app-and-eac-exchange-2013-help I am not sure if that has ever been updated for other version of Exchange. For SP there is something here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/hybrid/configure-web-application-proxy-for-a-hybrid-environment

You might get more help on the Exchange and SharePoint forums.

  • Thanks, Pierre

This link is specifically for Exchange 2013 though:

  • Maybe, I am not an Exchange SME :) Better luck asking the Exchange folks.

  • Not supported with Exch 2010. Your link states so.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/using-ad-fs-claims-based-authentication-with-outlook-web-app-and-eac-exchange-2013-help

There is no supported way to configure Exchange Server 2010 for direct AD FS authentication.
