  • Hi all,

Can someone please advise if i can do a mailbox migration into another database in a production environment?

Will it affect the user using this mailbox in anyway?

    Thanks

Microsoft change the behavior of Exchange mailbox move in Exchange 2010 and since then mailbox move happen in online mode (Asynchronous move). User don't face any issue during mailbox move. Same behavior is with all version which released after Exchange 2010.

But some time when mailbox move completes and endpoints change, outlook generates a message  something like "System administrator has made a change, please restart outlook".

After restarting outlook, it connects to moved mailbox.

There are other switches as well which you can use with mailbox move. For e.g. Move now and complete move requests later.(Complete after switch or suspend when ready to complete).

  • Hello,

If your exchange is 2016 no problem. If you use a previous version, the user wont send and receive messages during this period.
