  • Hi. here is the sample for robocopy.

We need to copy business_folder from C: drive to another computer d: drive with the same permissions and etc.

then we need to share the d: drive on another computer. here are commands to use:

    robocopy c:\business_folder "\\192.168.1.10\D drive" /mir /z /e

D drive - is the shared folder name

" "-used because we have space in our path

\\- used because destination directory is in network

/mir - used to mirror (copy) with NTFS permissions with owner, attributes, audit permissions and timestamps. * Note that robocopy not copying Shared permissions

/e - used to copy all subdirectories, including empty directories. If you want to not copy empty directories then you need to use /s command

/z - used to work in restart mode. It means if you have disconnected from network then it will wait until conenction will back

SOmetimes some folder or files cannot copy due permission in destination then it will show access denied. That time you will need to use backup mode command. the command is /b

additionally you can use waiting time for retries or another additional commands. Fully it's written here:

  • Hi. Create a folder in another computers D drive and share it. Do the same but change the destination as \\serverIPorname\Sharedfoldername

Also use /zb command instead of /z command

here b commmand means backup mode if you have 'access denied' warning
