can anyone help me, i cannot open a .docx file that i just saved????? RRS feed

  • Hi i just saved an important file and when i tried to open it this error occurs:

    "The file Chapter 4.docx cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents.


    The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag.

    Location: Part: /word/document.xml, Line: 2, column: 116358"

    is there anyone who could help me in recovering this import piece of work..

    it took me days to write the chapter 4 of my thesis..

    it gives me headaches when i think about writing it all over again.. :'(

  • You are having the error: "The file Chapter 4.docx cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents", which means the .docx file is corrupted. I understand it must be crucial as it took many days to be completed. Have you tried Open and Repair? If not, then you must try it.

    Open MS Word > press Ctrl+O button > select your corrupt .docx file > click on the arrow beside Open button > select Open and Repair. Within a few seconds the file will be repaired and opened. Sometimes this may fail to open corrupt Word file if file has major corruption issues. In such situation you must try some third-party recovery software for corrupt .docx files.
