App-V & 16 bit dos app in Full screen mode? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I unsderstand that terminal services will not allow a 16 bit doss app to run in full screen mode.

The  dos app will run in full screen mode on windows 7 wirth standard vga driver.

Can this be achieved under App-V ?

  • ... and you can wrap DOS-Box inside an App-V package - for the case that you don't want to install DOS-Box onto your Terminal/RemoteDesktop servers. See http://www.softgridblog.com/?p=164, including a common use case ;-)

  • App-V is not an application compatibility solution - as such, if Windows cannot run a 16-bit application (i.e. Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 and 2012 R2), then App-V will not help you.

Try using DOSbox instead: http://www.dosbox.com/. This will require installing a version of DOS to use it with your 16-bit DOS-based application.
