Update media content separately, files and iso RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

In "media" we have two things:
    1. "content" folder
    2. iso file

And when I press "update media content", it updates both of them. In testing scenario it takes a lot of time.

Is there any way to update only "iso" file from "content" folder?
Or update "iso" file from deployment skipping "content" folder?
    Or update only "content" folder?

  • Sounds like you're looking for OSDIMG

  • Thanks for reply,

But actually you gave me the half of the answer.

Is there any way to update only "iso" file from "content" folder?

I may update it throught oscdimg

    Or update only "content" folder?

In media properties untick "generate Lite touch bootable iso"

However, now I've recognized that for testing purposes I need to boot from "content" folder. Is it possible?

  • You generate the content folder and put it on a thumb drive to test.

  • That entire \Content\ folder is already built to boot, that's why bootmgr and .\Content\Boot exist. It's the same content that's available on the ISO. When MDT runs the Update Media process, it validates that the .\Content\ path is updated, and then runs OSCDIMG against that .\Content\ directory to create the ISO you see.  As you've already figured out, you can shut off building an ISO out, and that Content folder can be applied to any bootable DVD or USB.  Hope this helps.
