Will there be a CD version of Windows Server 2008? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My company has 5 servers which are currently running Linux (Fedora). My boss/manager would like to buy and install Windows Server 2003 on those servers.

As we all know, Windows Server 2008 will be released next year, that's why I want him to postpone the upgrade till next year so we can get Windows Server 2008. However, those 5 servers have CD and not DVD drives.

So, will there be a CD version of Windows Server 2008?. Or do I need to contact the manufacturer (HP) for DVD Drive upgrade? Or should I do a network install? (I've never done a network install on a server. Please provide some links to neccesary documentation)

Or, is it worth upgrading to Windows Server 2008 after all?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi nr2ae,

unfortunately, there will no any CD release of Windows Server 2008 it's DVDs only. so, your only solution is to upgrade your server. regarding to network installation, I don't recommend it.
