Outlook Password - Persistent Problem


  • I am using outlook 2016 for my business emails and as of this morning one of my email address is prompting for a password in outlook. I've done various searches online regarding this problem and have yet to find a resolution. 

    I've done the following thus far;

    • .Ost repair tool
    • Reset password
    • Remove account, delete .ost file, add account back in. (no success adding it back)
    • Delete all credentials in vault
    • Create new profile
    • Remove all accounts - business main email is not having an issue.

    Any insight or ideas to get this cleared up would be helpful. 

    Here are the settings we use without issue on all of our employee emails. 

    incoming server:

    outgoing server:

    outgoing server requires authintication

    Port - Incoming Server: 143

    Port - Outgoing Server: 80

    By "prompting for a password in outlook.", do you mean Outlook keeps asking you for a password for this particular  imap account?
    What's the detailed build number of your Outlook?

    Besides, in some occasions, shared calendars in Outlook might impact the user credentials and cause Outlook to ask for a password. To help narrow down the issue, please try disabling the shared calendar and check if there will be any improvement.

  • As per your problem you have perform various steps but this issue occurs due to Network Security settings. Your Logon settings in network needs to be change. For this Change settings to Anonymous Authentication in Security tab.
