DPM 2012 ... any better for SharePoint?? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I used DPM 2010 and one of the most frustrating things I found that was that DPM 2010 did not do T-log backup for SharePoint content database (when you include them as part of a SharePoint protection group)

    The problem with this is that you get item level recovery only in SharePoint protection group. but then you only are protected up-to the last express full

    SQL protection group did support t-log backup every 30 seconds... but then we cannot do item level recovery in SP2010

    Have things become better with DPM 2012? can it do t-log backup and item level recovery for SharePoint protection group?

    val it: unit=()

  • Hi,

    DPM 2012 has not changed in regards to express full backups for sharepoint. One of the new enhancements is the ability to perform optimized ILR where we no longer need to copy the entire sharepoint DB to the sql server, we can now mount it remotely and export the recovery item.  This saves lots of time and eliminates the large file copy.
