DPM2010 - How to backup and restore mailbox items from Exchange 2010 SP1 TENANT MODE RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have DPM 2010, and exchange 2010 SP1 running in TENANT MODE.  As you know, tenant mode has no EMC, and therefor no disaster recovery toolset.

Does anyone have this type of configuration running successfully?

  • Hello NotoriousTCP,

Exchange 2010 recovery is primarily done in Exchange Management Shell now.

Based on my research you should be good to recover mail in Tenant Mode. You don’t need EMC. In Exchange 2010 you use the Recovery Database and Restore-Mailbox cmdlet to recover mail. See this link for more info on what has been replaced in from previous Exchange versions features in Exchange 2010: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998911.aspx.

I have detailed out the process of “Recovering mail in Exchange 2010 through DPM” in my DPM book in chapter 8. More info on my book can be found here: www.dpmbook.com . I may blog about this process in the future.

Ping me if you need further help.
