App-v 5.0 SP2 Client can't synchronize after initial login, with profile management error 070000000B

    Question

  • I have an issue where a user leveraging profile management (Citrix UPM) does not get updates from the publsihing server. The very first login, when the user profile is created I can successfully synchronize both on login and via powershell sync-appvpublishingserver. However, if new applications are published or existing apps unpublished the user does not get the changes, and attempts to run sync-appvpublishingserver result in the following error:

    AppV Error Code: 070000000B

In the event logs it just says fail to publish applications.

If I remove profile management I can successfully login and synchronize, and then logoff and on, and subsequently run sync-appvpublishingserver without issue. I am leveraging file exclusions of the Local folder in profile management and I am aware of the following so I am not using profile streaming. http://support.citrix.com/proddocs/topic/user-profile-manager-5-x/upm-using-with-app-v.html

    Any help is appreciated!

  • Here's the App-V related portion of the UPM GPO that we are using in our environment

    (XenApp6.5, UPM 5.0.0.111)

  • We went thru this same scenario in our environment.

    A few questions:

Are you using provisioned servers (Citrix PVS), and if so, which version?

What do you have in your current exclusion list?

  • Thanks - we were also going down that track and tried excluding AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AppV which worked but I was nervous that might be too heavy handed. So if I just exclude AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AppV\Client\Catalog will there be any side effects?

We are using Citrix MCS for provisioning.

Thanks again for getting back to me so fast!

  • No problem!  We have not seen any side effects from this at all.  Its just the catalog files (2 xml files per app), so when they arent there, they get re-downloaded.   We started off doing the entire AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AppV as well and that also worked, but that led me to finding out which part we needed to exclude.

We've been running with this configuration for about a year now and they are some of the most stable servers we have.
