Remove exchange server 2007 reference from exchange 2010

Question
-
I upgraded my exchange 2007 to 2010 12 months ago.
All runs fine but the management console still shows an exchange 2007 server when this is long gone.
I'm currently on SP3 for exchange 2010 running on server 2008. I'm going to be upgrading to server 2012 as soon as I can
How do I remove the reference to the old server that I don't have any more?

Hi,
You can use to remove the the old server by using ADSIEDIT
Adsiedit.msc-->Configuration-->Services-->Microsoft Exchange-->ORG -->Administrative Group-->Exchange Administrative Group-->Server
(Under Server container you will find all the server in your organisation(delete the server which is not there in the environment but you still see it in EMC)

First, open all Exchange Management Console and confirm that there are no Organizational items that have the old Exchange 2007 listed (ex: Send Connectors, databases, OAB Generation, etc). Then confirm that there are no Public Folders or Mailboxes that 'reside' on that old server. You get use EMS for that (ex: Get-Mailbox -server Svr07 -OR- Get-PublicFolder '\' -recurse | ?{$_.replicas -like "*svr07*"} ). Also check System Folders (OAB, Free Busy, etc).
If you are 99$ confident that nothing includes this old server, then you can remove it using ADSIEdit.msc. Open Configuration Partition and remove the server object from: Configuration > Services > Microsoft Exchange > OrgName > Administrative Groups > Exchange Admin... > Servers
Then you would need to remove it from the domain partition (DSA/ADUC): Computer Object and also from Exchange groups.
Once you do that, it should be no longer visible.
Good Luck!
