Fresh Project Server 2010 nstall - Time Reporting Period indicates duplicate names, gaps or overlaps between adjoining start and end dates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, we just installed project server. When we went to set the reporting periods for the first time on a blank canvas, we get the below message. Any clues what this might be?

"Project Server time reporting periods cannot have duplicate names, gaps or overlaps between adjoining period start and end dates. Period "1" does not conform to the period naming standard. Correct the periods, and then save your data again."

  • Hi,

the error message is very much self explaining. You need to make sure that the periods are well aligned. Can you add a screenshot so that we can analyze this?

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

based on what I can see in the screenshot everything looks ok. Do you see any overlaps below the section you showed above?

    Thanks,

    Renke

  • No overlaps. This is from a blank canvas - fresh install. I even saved with nothing in there afterwards and still couldn't get past the error then tried bulk create again - could not get past the error.

  • Hi,

if you cancel that dialog. Open it again. Do you see periods? If so, can you delete them and save?

    Thanks,

    Renke

  • Hi,

do you have already timesheets associated with the periods? If so try to delete and repeat the steps before. Based on what you say it sounds strange to me. Make also sure that you use the latest patch level since, there had been a lot improvements around timesheets.

    Thanks,

    Renke
