Installing DPM 2010 on a domain controller server 2008 r2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I am trying to following this guide: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff399416.aspx i have followed it all the way through add the DPMSQLSvcsAcct to the builtin\administrators group but i keep getting the following error:

    832

Setup cannot grant the <> account access to the DPM database.

Verify that SQL Server is properly installed and that it is running.

in the above guide it says the following:

On the primary domain controller, create a domain user account with the lowest possible privileges, assign it a strong password that does not expire, and then add it to the local Administrators group.

Under procedure 1 then point 4.

How can i add it to the local administrators group when its a domain controller?

It seems to be this bit cause the issue i think?

    Any help would be great

    Thanks

    Adam Sadler

  • Hi Adam,

In domain Controllers you won't find local Users and Groups instead put the user in the Administrators group in AD users and computers it will give you local admin privilage as required in the guide

let me know if it resolved your issue

  • Hi Adam,

are you aware that you will only be able to backup local data?

You won't be able to install agents over servers or workstations in your network.
