Offline Files - Client Side Cache rebuilds - DFS Targets

    Question

  • Offline Files :

The CSC (Client Side Cache) on fully patched Windows 7 machine would intermittently (Every other day)  flush and rebuild itself when restarting the machine.

The Offline files are redirected ‘My Documents’, ‘Desktop’ and then failing over between DFS target servers (Windows 2008 R2) and shutting the laptop down causes the CSC to rebuild. Its like the Cache thinks its corrupt and rebuilds.

Anyone experienced this issue at all?

Can I provide any further info?

  • Hi Dan,

CSC folder will not reset automatically, that could be done by programs, group policies, task scheduler or the file size is up to the limitation.

We can audit this folder and see the detailed event logs under Event viewer -> Security logs, then we can see who change it or remove files from it:
