Communicator Call forwarding RRS feed

  • Question

  • Some of the off site uses are using call forwarding options and forwarding calls to internation numbers. Please let me know whether these calls will be charged for international calls by the telephone operator. If yes how to stop that.

  • Hi,

This is fairly standard deployment stuff. The technet documentation should be your first stop.

Settings are changed on the Lync Control Panel (or via powershell)

    Hope this helps

  • This depends on where those calls are leaving the IP network and are entering the PSTN, and what the calling plans are for the carrier network used to bridge the calls.  Most likely you are getting international changes on them though.

You can implement various Voice Policies with different PSTN Usages to prevent international calling for select groups of Lync users.  To do this OCS you can leverage Phone Usages and Policies.

As Jeff says, almost certainly yes.

This was/is a common 'hack' on old PBX systems for people to call abroad for 'free'.

Again as Jeff says, Voice policies are the answer.

    cheers

  • Hi Tom and Jeff,

Today I have confirmed and we are charged with international call charges which we need to stop immediately. Can you please let us know how to setup the voice policies? In the mediation server? Please let me know if you have any articles based on deployment of the voice policies for different group of users.

    Thanks,
