RDP will not work in one user account

    Question

  •   When attempting to connect to a server with Remote Desktop Connection, an user with limit user privileges receives the message "Remote Desktop Connection has encounter a problem and needs to close." Here is the Error Signature  AppName: mstcs.exe  AppVer: 6.0.6001.18000   ModName: mstscax.dll  ModVer: 6.0.6001.18266  Offset: 0015bcfa.

When I connect to the server with RDP in the Administrator, there is no problem.

I created another limited user account. The user of this account had no problem.

This is a Windows XP machine.

  • You may want to try to re-register the file on the users machine to see if that helps (regsvr32 mstscax.dll ) if that doesnt help then try uninstalling and re-installing the Remote desktop client from their machine
