    A PC here with Vista Home Premium recently crashed for unknown reasons. I have run chkdsk from a Vista Business DVD with no luck in fixing the issues and was wondering if it was safe to run other CLI tools (such as bootrec) from the command prompt on a BUSINESS disk for a HOME PREMIUM installation.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    No.  You will need to use a Windows Vista Home Premium disc.
