Can I restore data from a dead Seagate external hard drive? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have stored all my traveling pictures on my 2TB Seagate external hard drive. But when I plug the external drive to my PC this morning, it works quite slowly. When I click the external hard drive, it has no response. It seems like that the Seagate external hard drive is dead. How is it possible to restore all files from a dead Seagate external hard drive when it has no response?

  • Something might be wrong with your Seagate external hard drive. You can try to plug out the external hard drive and reconnect it to your PC again to see if it can work normally. Once you are able to access the Seagate external drive, you had better transfer all important data to another device to avoid data loss. If you are unable to access the Seagate, probably there are bad sectors on it. If so, you might have a try with data recovery software like iCare Data Recovery to extract files off the external drive. This software is free and reliable.
