IE 11 and 8 compatibility - 3rd party application RRS feed

  • Question

  • we're using a 3rd party web based time recording system loaded onto our server. in theory we log in over the web and enter time etc. directly into the data base. Through our own laptops using IE 11 and a data card its fine; using our Client's desktop or laptop on their system, running IE 8, it hangs and doesn't load properly. The developers sell it as available over any platform, PC, mobile, tablet etc.

Does anyone have knowledge of backwards compatibility issues comparing IE 11 and 8, which may be the heart of the problem (and any solutions - Client is too big to push to change IE version unless there its a corporate roll out).

    Thanks

  • Hi,

    see Compatibility Changes in IE11

Probably your 3rd party plugin vendor does not have a 64bit version of their ActiveX control (Tools>Manage Addons>Show All Addons).

or they are using browser sniffing or new ActiveX to feature test for browser support.

Please include links to any website that you are having problems with your questions.

By default only the intranet and trusted sites security zones have Enhanced Protected Mode disabled.
