Protection Agent version incorrect after installing update RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had to recover my DPM 2010 primary server. I was able to get all of my replicas and protection groups back and everything is working. However, after installing 3.0.7707.0 about half of my agents list as having agent version 3.0.7707.0 and that there's an update available. Attempting the update fails.

"The protection agent operation failed because DPM detected an unknown DPM protection agent on <protected-server name>. (ID 307)"

When I installed the update for 3.0.8180.0 the protected servers in question now list 3.0.8180.0 as the version with the update available still. Finally, installing Update Rollup 6 (3.0.8193.0) or Update Rollup 7 (3.0.8195.0) doesn't change the listed version listed from 3.0.8180.0.

I saw this article http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/14cbd01d-b25a-45fa-ac25-c8cd3551d6d9/dpm-server-version-and-agents-incorrect?forum=dataprotectionmanager and wonder if there is a similar fix for my situation.

    Thanks.

  • I was able to use that other forum post to put together a SQL query to update the database with the 8195 patch.
    use dpmdb
    insert into dbo.tbl_AM_AgentPatch
    values ('F6F90601-740B-4A5F-8229-A55DF3243BF9','DC39E868-894B-4B76-9FE8-266E3C76F8FF',N'DPM RA Update v3.0.8195.0','1','3','0','8195','0',N'Agents\RA\3.0.8195.0\i386\1033','DPMProtectionAgent_KB2751231.msp',N'REBOOT=ReallySupress INSTALLDPMFILTER=0')

    insert into dbo.tbl_AM_AgentPatch
    values ('F6F90601-740B-4A5F-8229-A55DF3243BF9','DC39E868-894B-4B76-9FE8-266E3C76F8FF',N'DPM RA Update v3.0.8195.0','2','3','0','8195','0',N'Agents\RA\3.0.8195.0\amd64\1033','DPMProtectionAgent_KB2751231.msp',N'REBOOT=ReallySupress INSTALLDPMFILTER=0')

    Select * from dbo.tbl_AM_AgentPatch

  • I'll add here. If I manually uninstall the agent and install the version 3.0.8180.0 I'm then able to allow the server to push the update to 3.0.8193. It still won't update to 3.0.8195. None of my agents are at 3.0.8195 and there isn't an update listed as available.

  • So MT Barry - just where/how does a person do that?    I don't have the foggiest idea where to put in the SQL query you gave.
