Failure exit code 1603 - The error code is 2711. The arguments are: PasswordClientX86, , RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

From these documents I was trying to understand how to build the command line for an unattended installation of the FIM Client

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff602040(WS.10).aspx

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ilm2/thread/64c244a9-eda7-43bb-898f-6ed6c7b7bba4

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ilm2/thread/f1ae44d9-d4f3-4329-a988-ba0c77d639a3

I first tried a simplified line but it fails...

I have defined the Source Directory \\VOFYMSYNC1\FIMClientx86 under the Data Source tab of the Package Properties.

    Msiexec /i "Add-ins and extensions.msi" /quiet ADDLOCAL="PasswordClient,PasswordClientX86,OfficeClient" RMS_LOCATION=VOFIMSYNC1 PORTAL_LOCATION=VOFIMFE1 PORTAL_PREFIX=https

When trying an unattended installation of FIM Client I am getting an error:

Software Distribution 10006 The program for advertisement "DTS200A9" failed ("DTS0005C" - "xxxx - Forefront Identity Management Client x86"). A failure exit code of 1603 was returned.  User context: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM    Possible cause: Systems Management Server (SMS) determines status for each program it executes. If SMS cannot find or correlate any installation status Management Information Format (MIF) files for the program, it uses the program's exit code to determine status. An exit code of 1603 is considered a failure.  Solution: For more information on the exit code, refer to the documentation for the program you are distributing.

    Which switches/parameters are mandatory?

On the local machine I am trying to push I have this error just before the 1603:

  • Felyjos,

    Some tips:

    1. If you're having issues, copy the x86 folder locally, like c:\install and try executing from there
    2. The ADDLOCAL values don't have to be surrounded with "", if you have multiple split with ,
    3. The SITELOCK_DOMAIN values don't have to be surrounded with "", if you have multiple split with ;
    4. instead of using /quiet I prefer /qb! allthough that shouldn't make a difference
    5. The only valid ADDLOCAL options for the client extensions/add in are
    • x86 client OS: OfficeClient, PasswordClient
    • x64 client OS: OfficeClient, PasswordClient, PasswordClientX86

So sumarized, for an x86 client OS, open an elevated prompt and:

    cd c:\install\x86

    Msiexec /i "Add-ins and extensions.msi" /qb! ADDLOCAL=PasswordClient,OfficeClient RMS_LOCATION=VOFIMSYNC1.ad.xxxx PORTAL_LOCATION=VOFIMFE1.ad.xxxx PORTAL_PREFIX=https SITELOCK_DOMAIN=ids.xxxx /l*v NameOfLogFile.txt

  • Hello,

I deleted the Advertisement and the package waited a night 6 hours ... Everything was gone. I created a new package and a new advertisement and now the error changed... The program for advertisement "DTS200AC" failed ("DTS0005D" - "UCLA - Forefront Identity Management Client x86"). A failure exit code of 1619 was returned. User context: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Possible cause: Systems Management Server (SMS) determines status for each program it executes. If SMS cannot find or correlate any installation status Management Information Format (MIF) files for the program, it uses the program's exit code to determine status. Any idea? I could not find any specific for FIM?

    Thanks,

  • if you go through the GUI installation once, then u will realize "Add-ins and Extensions" is the client piece and doesn't contain "FIM Portal" for example. So your WebPortals and PwdPortals are definitely invalid.

Is there anything in the log file that stands out?
