Project Request from Customers/Client in PWA RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I am using Project Server 2010 for Project management. I am new to this. I want client/customer access the project request page and fill up the proposal/project request and submit it. Later the project request should be going through various workflows like from manager to director so on for approval. After approving the project request new project should be created in project center. Fields will be added once the project request moves from one workflow to another.

The question is how to do this. Can I use PDP's for the project request?

  • Hi Sathvik --

I suggest creating a SharePoint list that is designed to capture project requests, with fields such as 'Title', 'Description', 'Business Case', etc. Any captured requests can be routed through a SharePoint workflow for review and initial approval (created with SharePoint Designer), and the SharePoint list can be opened to a wider audience than the people who are granted access to Project Server.

Once a request is approved to a predetermined point, then a new project can be created in Project Server and planned and executed from there onward. Passing the request from the SharePoint list into Project Server would require a bit of custom development in Project Server 2010. If you were using Project Server 2013, however, it would not require any custom development.

    Does this help?

    Good luck!
