Hiding a drive seems to prevent saving to another partition RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm configuring up a build of XP SP3 , on a dell laptop, I've split the hard disk into two partitions, the idea being that the users can save word documents to the d drive for. I hid the C drive and found that when I saved a document I got the following error "Word cannot save or create the file. Make sure that the disk you want to save on is not full, write protected or damaged". I created another test account and modelled all the settings to be the same with the exception of hiding the c drive, I was then able to save to the d drive. As a further test I then hid the c drive for the test user and was unable to save files.

have now unhidden the C drive and am still unable to save. Can anyone suggest how to fix this. In an ideal world the C drive has to remain hidden, the user should be able to save to the root of the d drive.
