XP and Vista multiboot problem (consistency check) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have XP on disk1 and Vista on disk2. I managed to make the bootmenu, but problems starts when either xp or vista is selected. Both systems starts to load ok, but they always want to perform consistency check (chkdsk)?? Both OS will start properly, but its annoying and time consuming that they always wan't to make consistency check.

How can I fix this problem? What function makes the operating systems to think that there is a consistency problem?

Here is my setup, I had to copy both systems boot files across, else boot menu won't work:

Disk1, Partition 1 - Win XP (XPs boot.ini, ntldr, ntdetect.com & Vistas boot directory and bootmgr)
    Disk1, Partition 2 - Data/stuff
    Disk2, Partition 1 - Data/stuff (XPs boot.ini, ntldr, ntdetect.com & Vistas boot directory and bootmgr)
    Disk2, Partition 2 - Vista

Disk1 is booting HD in BIOS. Can this setup even work normally? Thank you for your answers.
