Is the documentation for customizing user agents for rich clients correct? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is the documentation that is published in the technet library for "Customizing user agents for rich clients" correct?

Specifically, should we directly edit the \Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway\von\Conf\WizardDefaults\AgentDefaultParam.ini file or instead copy this file to the \Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway\von\Conf\WizardDefaults\CustomUpdate folder and make the changes there?

  • Benjies,

I dont believe there are any technet articles for this type of customization.

Do not directly edit the AgentDefaultParam.ini file.

Create a new file called AgentDefaultParam.ini under \customupdate\

    and start it like this...

    [Agent_List]
    NumOfAgents=1

    [Agent1]
    Parameters here

UAG will merge both of the files together so don't copy the entire file over to customupdate

    Thank you.

  • I successfully used the documentation at

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607471.aspx

as is and it worked perfectly for us.  Maybe the customupdate is a better way, but this technet doc worked.

  • Hi Jim,

Out of interest, how did you customise it?

    Cheers

  • Hi Jim,

The technet documentation that you linked works but the changes do not get replicated to other UAG member servers if you have implemented an array. Changes that you make within the CustomUpdate folder are replicated.
