add Allow wake Timers on Surface pro RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have few Surface Pro at work, from 2 to 6. None of theme have the option "Allow wake timers" in Power Options.

After few research and test, i still can't figure out how to enable/add it.

FYI : powercfg.exe /q doesn't have any entries about "allow wake timers"

acpitime.sys is present, they are all on Windows 10 Pro 1803

Do i have to enable or install something ?

I need this feature to run backup during the night.

    Thanks

    Ghislain

  • Man, this took me about 90 billion years to figure out but had the same issue and here's what I did to fix it.

Note this solution requires messing with the registry which you should do at your own risk etc.

    Go to registry (run: regedit)

    Navigate to the following:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\238C9FA8-0AAD-41ED-83F4-97BE242C8F20\BD3B718A-0680-4D9D-8AB2-E1D2B4AC806D

in my case the relevant entry was absent, so I created a DWord in that folder called "Attributes" with a value of 2 (enable). If you already have a Dword value there, change its value to 2 (enable).

Then restart computer, that should work. Cheerio
