Desperate! Vista reboots when entering administrator password RRS feed

  • Please help,

     

    Whenever I log in as administrator vista restarts the PC, meaning I can only log in as a standard user and can not access settings arrghhh

    Any ideas?

  • Do you mean built-in administrator account? In fact, account created by Vista, when you install OS has administrator rights too.

  • I mean the account which i created during setup as the first user account, this is the only one i can seee on the log in screen with administrator rights - the rest are standard users.

     

    Could there be another?

  • Reboot into Safe Mode (by pressing F8 at boot) and you should be able to log into the recovery Administrator account, which doesn't have a password by default.
