MS Project - How to define rented resources RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear community,

Can you please help me in the following topic. I need to define a resource which have both quantity and hour rate as parameters.

For example: I have a task which requires 5 rented cars, the task duration is 10 days.

The cost of 1 rental car is 60€/Day.

I need MS Project to tell me that the total cost of my task is: 5(Qty)*10(Duration)*60(Day Rate)=3000€.

Thank you in advance for your support.

    Best regards,

Here is how I would address this need:

    1. In the Resource Sheet view of your project, enter a resource named Rental Car and leave the Type value set to Work.
    2. In the Std. Rate column, enter 60€/d for the Rental Car resource.
    3. In the Gantt Chart view of your project, assign the Rental Car resource at a Units value of 500%.

Perhaps the others in this group will have ideas for you as well.  Hope this helps.
