DFRS - SYSVOL replication between DCs not working.

    Question

  • Hi All,

In a nutshell I've taken over a new customer, one of the first things I've done is deploy WSUS. After created the GPOs for WSUS I linked them to OUs and ran Gpupdate and got the 1058 errors because DFRS is not working. The GPOs exists only on the DC I created them on.

    I discovered this..http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2218556/en-us

Problem is...there are CN and DN values for SYSVOL and DFRS? Where to next?

P.S. This forest \ Domain was originally setup as an SBS Server 2011 and was then migrated to Server 2012 R2 as it stands now?

    Thanks in advance,

    durrie.

  • Hi Todd,

Thanks for the link with some great advice there for fixing DFS...

My problem was more fundamental than that. Seizing FSMO roles (I now know) does NOT migrate SYSVOL replication from FRS > DFS at the same time as seizing roles...i.e. DFS it wasn't even setup!

Found this which I used to successfully migrate from FRS to DFS replication and now my SYSVOL with new GPOs are there for ALL to see on both DCs.

  • Please see this thread for fixing the DFSR replication problem you are experiencing.  It is not all that uncommon.
