    How do I shut off the windows animations when I maximize or minimize a window in Windows XP Home?

    1. Open Start Menu > Control Panel.

    2. IF you are in the Classic view -

      Double-click System from the Control Panel icons. Select the Advanced tab. Under "Performance" click Settings. 

      IF you are in the Category view

      Select Performance and Maintenance. Under "Pick a task..." select Adjust Visual affects.

    3. Uncheck "Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing" and click OK.
