Please improve the formula editing in Power Query - "Custom Column" RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Power Query is great, but...

    The current formula editing in power query is INCONVENIENCE.The function signature is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from SSIS, Excel, MDX and DAX.

    Could the developer team improve the formula editor, at least include one of the following feature:

    1) Add an alternative Excel-like or DAX-like function signature;

    2) Auto-completion, just like Excel or DAX formula;

    3) A directory of formula syntax to choose from, just like the "Data Conversion" in SSIS.

    Any good solution is also welcomed.

  • Thanks for your feedback. There's certainly a lot we could do to improve formula editing, and we'll take your suggestions into consideration.

  • I agree 100%, while we are on it also make the Advance Editor work like IDE like powershell or webstorm with intellisense, autocompletion, suggestions (especially since it's case sensitive)
