Creating a custom dictionary for query suggestions in fast search for sharepoint 2010? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

I want to know whether we can create a custom dictionary and get the query suggestion from that dictionary for a custom text box in Fast search for sharepoint.

Let us take as we have large number of query suggestion words that have to be shown only in one page for other page the suggestion will be different.

Can any one tell us whats the best way we can implement this??

We have tried to put that in sharepoint list and access through jquery in the custom search box it works but in this case we will be getting the whole list at once when the page loads so its very slow.

    Thanks ,

  • Hi,

Using a list and a custom endpoint for your javascript to query, and filter serverside instead of retrieving the whole list is the way to go.

You can also craft the javascript queries used with the client object model to filter what you return from the list. Might be less work than the above method.
