Filter out inactive projects RRS feed

  • Question

  • I use Project Server 2010.

How to I make an entire project inactive and filter it so that I show only active projects?

  • Hello HFprojects

Create a custom flag enterprise project field and call it "IsHidden".  For the projects you want hidden, set the flag as "Y".   Put a filter on all your views that filters all reports "IsHidden" is NOT "Y"

    Cheers!

  • You can delete projects from Draft and Published databases but leave them in the Archived database. That way, if you need to recover one of them in the future for review, copying, etc. you can restore it.

If you still need a project to be in the published/reporting database for general statistics but you do not want the project managers and team members to see them - then you can use a project category (called e.g. Hidden Projects) and include in this category all the projects you no longer want to appear. Then associate this category with the Project Managers and Team Members security Groups, selecting Deny for permissions like Open Project, View Project Schedule in PWA, etc.

  • Thanks for the response.

I don't want to delete my last year's projects but would like them to be available on PWA. On the other hand, I only want to show "this year's" projects for regular work. There will be times when we want to refer to last year's projects and that is why I would like to filter on them.

Would 'hidden projects' address this need?
