Adding WSS Front End Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm exploring options for providing Asia offices access to the WSS 3.0 we have in the US. The first thought is spinning up a front end server in Asia, but I don't see this as much advantage because the SQL Server is still in the US. I could also stand up a complete WSS 3.0 site in Asia, but because it's WSS I don't beleive there is any integration between the 2 systems.

What is the best way to extend a WSS 3.0 site into Asia to resolve network latency issues?

    Thanks for any input,

    Hello Josef,

Thank you for your post. The minimum network bandwidth between the servers in the farm (especially between WFE and SQL) should be 100 Mbps and the recommendation speed is 1 Gbps. Which means connecting a WFE over a slow WAN link is not recommended/supported. Refer for more details: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc288751(v=office.12).aspx
