Project Server automatic reschedule according to hours input RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a very annoying behavior at Project Server 2007 that I need to see if it can be controlled.

Every time a user inputs hours to a task outside the originally planned time frame, the same task is automatically rescheduled and therefore the entire project might become a mess.

    Example:

Let’s say a task of 5 working days is planned for week number 36.

If users report hours to this task before week 36 (they might had time to start earlier), then the task is automatically rescheduled to the first day when time for it was entered and therefore all subsequent task might be reschedule as well.

The same happens when users add hours to a task after it is officially finished.

When this happens, the task is automatically delayed and all subsequent tasks are also automatically delayed, creating a big mess and sometimes destroying the project.

This behavior might look understandable, but does not necessary reproduces reality.

Can this be controlled in such a way that when users input their hours the schedule is not changed? Regardless of early or late these hours are entered.

    Thanks a lot,

    Kire
