  • Hi!

Does anybody know if there's a release date set for BizTalk 2020? I've seen that it's been announced for the end of 2019, but that's soon now…

  • The message at the top of the page is:

"We’re no longer updating this content regularly. Check the Microsoft Product Lifecycle for information about how this product, service, technology or API is supported."

Can you please provide a release date? There are customers waiting to upgrade.

  • This is the only information I could find about BizTalk 2020. Is there any validity to this?

  • Well there's no sign of it on MSDN or volume licensing portal, so I'm assuming it's inaccurate.

    • Enterprise
    • Standard

    Documentation is available here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/biztalk/install-and-config-guides/biztalk-server-what-s-new-installation-configuration-and-upgrade

  • Hi,

    Nice, thanks!

Does anyone know if the 5 application limit is still there in the Standard Edition?

No mention of that in the documentation, so I suspect that remains the same, as it is a key differentiation between it at Enterprise, along with the LOB adapters.

  • Something a bit strange in the upgrade paths,
    1) You can only upgrade from BizTalk 2016, rather than the usual 2 version (e.g. from BizTalk 2013 R2)

    2) You can not upgrade from BizTalk 2016 Developer edition to BizTalk 2020 developer edition according to the table.  I hope that is a typo.

  • Hi Colin,

Based on previous upgrades, I would not recommend doing an in-place upgrade of BizTalk server.

    - upgrade your projects by rebuilding each one - yes it's a pain, sorry
    - build and deploy on new servers
    - migrate processes from one BizTalk server to your new one. This strategy will mitigate business risk.

Yes I know, I always recommend that to clients as well.  But sometimes they want the cheaper, quicker option, even if it is higher risk.

  • Few screen shots of the configuration and admin console for those who haven't got round to looking.  Nothing really to report.

No visible changes from what I can see.  BAM portal still exists in the same form it always has.  No icon for the MMC console still.

  • No, there is no typo in the support statement for upgrade.

  • Hi Sanjiv,

So, it's not possible to upgrade from BizTalk 2016 Developer Edition to BizTalk 2020 Developer Edition..?

Thats's... limiting, to say the least.

We have a lot of Dev and Test environments where we would like to do this.
