DFS-R vs Storage Replica for Multi Site file access (Conflict Resolution) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

I have just started working at a company that uses DFS and DFS-R to ensure that both sites have up to date copies of files locally. However from my understanding DFS-Rs conflict resolution is basically "whichever version saved most recently is the correct one". This can cause problems especially in documents that have have a lot of collaboration. (Excel for example).

We are looking at upgrading our servers to Server 2016 and i read up a bit on Storage Replica. I read that (As a backup solution) this pretty much replaces DFS-R. However i cant find much information about its potential use to duplicate changes both directions between two shared file locations or if there is any advancement on the conflict resolution.

Does anyone have any more information in regards to these concerns or can you recommend a solution that may work for us?
