Office 2007 Language Pack installation failure RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hiya,

I have pulled out the en-us LIP from the Multiple language pack disk and edited the config file in accordance with the microsoft articles.  The problem I have is that it sometimes fails to find a fallback culture during installation and fails.   Here is my scenario and issue with the log file:

English XP sp3 with German XP MUI installed. Office 2007 installed with embedded de-de LIP based on locale.  Locale setting is German (Germany) -  Adding extra english language for Office - en-us LIP installs successfully.

English XP sp3 with German XP MUI installed. Office 2007 installed with embedded de-de LIP based on locale.  Locale setting is German (Austria) -  Adding extra english language for Office - en-us LIP install fails to find fallback culture.  Here is the log.

What I dont understand is that I am running the installation silently and do not need to find any other language files but the one that i am installing, so why does it still attempt to find an SetupUI language and why does it fail to use the en-us files for Austria but works for Germany when the MUI files are exactly the same, its just the country code that is different. As we support over 12 languages, I do not want to have to create a 4GB package with all the LIPs we support just to be able to install English.
