  • Hello,

As I have no fingerprint recorder to reproduce this issue, we may need some steps to troubleshoot it.

    Repair System Files

    1.    Insert the Windows Vista installation DVD into the DVD drive, then click Exit if the auto-menu pops up.

    2.    Click Start, All Programs, Accessories then right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

    3.    Type the following commands:

    sfc /purgecache press Enter;
    sfc /scannow press Enter.

System will check the integration of system files automatically.

Confirm the version of the application

Update the application to Version 2.01

    Change DEP settings

As the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) may also block the Fingerprint Reader, we can manually modify the related settings:

    1.    Click Start.

    2.    Right-click Computer and select Properties.

    3.    In the left pane, choose Advanced System Settings.

    4.    In the Performance field, click Settings.

    5.    Switch to the Data Execution Prevention.

    6.    Choose the option Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.

    7.    Click on Add.

    8.    Navigate to the following folder: \Program Files\DigitalPersonal\Bin

    9.    Click on the file DPAgnt.exe.

    10. Click Open

    11. Repeat the above steps for the following applications:

    12. Click Apply.

    Hope it helps!

  • Hello,

To exclude factors from 3rd party applications or services, please try to perform a clean boot:

(KB929135) How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista

Besides, as the interface language you’re using seems to be Italian, to more efficiently troubleshoot this issue, please also post it to our public newsgroup on Windows Vista in Italian:

Let us know the result of clean boot if possible, thanks!

  • I got exactly the same problem. Vista suddenly stated there was an issue with the fingerprint reader and I should update to the latest version. I downloaded this version, got rid of the installed version first. Booted and installed the new package.

Can't get it to work anymore now.

I also tried to re-register the dll's and adding all the listed files to my DEP exclusion list, but still no luck.

While browsing several forums for solution I found out that there are lots of people who have the same problem.

Hope to hear from you soon.
