Folder redirection path changed after reboot of 2012 Domain Controller.

    Question

  • This is my first post and I will try to explain the problem.

    We have 2 DC’s one 2008 r2 and the other 2012.

We recently retired an aging 2003 fileserver and migrated all of our user’s documents to a new 2012 server. The path we used was “Path: \\fileserver01\userdocs$\%USERNAME%\My Documents”. After all the users were migrated and we confirmed everyone could see their documents we powered down the old server.

All was fine for a week, but after a routine reboot of the 2012 domain controller the path for the GPO changed on this server to “Path: \\fileserver01\userdocs$\%USERNAME%\Documents”. Without the “MY”. So when a user authenticates to this DC, it is causing our users to create a second folder under the users name with this path and they are unable to see their documents.

I have tried resetting the path and it will not reset. I have ‘googled’ and searched but have not been able to find a solution. Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

  • You might want to delete and reconfigure the folder redirectory setting again to correct this
