  • Question

  • Does anyone know if Internet Explorer 11 (for Windows 7 x64) is available for deployment via Software Update Point?

    Thanks

  • No, it is not.  They just added Internet Explorer 10 to the catalog used by WSUS and the Software Update Point a few months ago.  It will be awhile before it shows up there, even though the end user Microsoft Update catalog has it now.

For now, you should create an Application to deploy it.

  • Tim,

While IE11 is available for download as a standalone install or for install through Microsoft Update, it is not yet in the catalog that is available to WSUS/SUPs.  They typically lag that for several months with Internet Explorer releases.  I don't expect it to be as long as with IE10, but it will still be a while.

There are options for downloading it from Microsoft Update's catalog and importing it into your WSUS/SUP instance with SCUP, but it is pretty easy to just make an Application and deploy it with the .exe files.

    I hope that helps,

  • Thanks all, where can I find the online catalog to view available updates for WSUS/SUP? (Obviously I can check the Software Updates in ConfigMgr 2012 console)

  • I think your WSUS/SUP is the only place to view it.

The full Microsoft Update catalog is available to view, but does not differentiate things that are available to WSUS:

This article lists all changes in WSUS content.

Based on this info I made the assumption it would be available in WSUS (and thus also on your SUP).

Nash - did you effectively sync your SUP after Nov 7th? (I don't have a lab available atm so I cannot check myself).

  • Tim,

Thanks for pointing out that article! I did not know it existed.

The article confirms that IE11 is available only for install from Microsoft Update, not from WSUS.  See the "Deployment: " section of each entry for where it is available.  If it doesn't list WSUS, it is not yet available for deployment from WSUS/SUPs.

    Regards,

    Nash
