  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a site hierarchy where,

    Top Site

-Sub Site A (inherits permissions from Parent Site)

-Sub Site B (inherits permissions from Parent Site)

-Sub Site C (unique permissions and does not inherit permissions from parent)

I now need to add permissions in such a way that a user has access to only Sub site A and not Subsite B. Is this possible without having to break the inheritance from the PArent Site? I have tested this and it looks like the user has access to Top Level and Sub Site A and Sub Site B  and Top Level Site by default?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • As you said that both the subsites are inherting permission from top level site, you cannot have different permission settings for Subsites unless you break the inheritance for Subsite B.

  • Hi,

If subsite B Inherits from subsite A or if subsite B inherits from the same Parent as subsite A. Then subsite B will have the same permissions as subsite A since subsite B inherits from the same Parent Site as subsite A.

  • Hi Ivan,

Sorry both SubSite A and SubSite B have same Parent Top level Site. Just to make sure I explain the case clearly.

SubSite A inherits from Top Level Site

SubSite B inherits from Top Level Site. Which means, SubSite A and SubSite B are at the same heirarchy level.

    Thanks for your help,
